The question is how long the professional takes to perform this test because there are some who do not even know how to do the test. To help in this process and speed up maintenance, I made a homemade relay tester with cheap equipment that we have at home or are cheap to buy. To make this tester, we will need a universal auxiliary relay socket, 2 turn signal or brake bulbs with or without socket and a push-button horn button. In the relay socket, identify the position of pin 30 of the relay and connect it to a red wire to identify that this will be the positive wire for powering the system. Pin 86 will be connected to a black wire that will be the negative wire for the system. Pin 85 will be connected to one of the terminals of the push button switch and the other terminal of the switch goes directly to the red wire that will be positive. The positive poles of the lamps will be connected, one of them to 87 and the other to 87a of the relay socket. This way, you just need to feed the red and black wires to the positive and negative and when you connect a 5-pin relay to test, it will automatically turn on one of the lamps and as soon as you press the button, it will turn off that one and turn on the other lamp, indicating that the relay is working properly. To test the 4-pin relay, just plug it into the test socket and pressing the button will turn on one of the lights. It is mandatory to use an incandescent turn signal or brake lamp that has good power consumption and the relay coupling must be in good condition to turn on the lamp strongly. If the tester were made with LED, it would not be possible to check if the relay coupling is good, because with minimal contact it would already be possible to turn on the LED light. I'm sure this tester will be very useful and will speed up your maintenance process on the car's electrical system. I'll stop here and wait for you with our next topic, thanks.
