The German has created his own living space in the wilderness of Canada. Here he is realising his dream of getting away - without a telephone, internet or television. A film by Hubl Greiner. The complete film. Luke prefers to be alone, as far away from civilisation as possible. In 1997 he bought a 17 hectare forest plot in the Canadian wilderness and built an ingenious log cabin using the simplest of means. In the winter Luke works shifts in Germany as a geriatric nurse and saves as much money as possible. In the summer he then lives alone for around 4-5 months each year, without a telephone, internet, computer or radio/TV. It takes five hours to get from Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon, to Pelly Farm, a former supply station for gold diggers. From here you sail a few kilometres downstream, as Luke's land can only be reached by boat. In the film, the self-made craftsman speaks openly about his life in the wilderness. He talks about the adventurous building of his house, hunting wild animals and encounters with unfriendly Indians and bears. Time is not important on the Yukon River - survival is. If something happens to Luke, he has to be at Pelly Farm by canoe within 30 minutes - otherwise his life is in danger. In the summer of 2013, the author Hubl Greiner visited Luke in the Yukon Territory and accompanied him for several days in the wilderness. Hubl Greiner's guest contribution is a video diary of a completely different kind. The film music was composed by Christof Dienz. Don't want to miss any videos?
