Angelo Baldovino, a simple man, for money agrees to marry Agata, left pregnant by Marquis Fabio Colli, who is already married. Naturally it had to be a marriage in public view... and each was supposed to see his own affairs. But things take an unexpected turn... as Angelo begins to take charge. He helps the young woman left alone, agrees to give his own name to the child and will help Marquis Fabio. Little by little, however, because of Angelo's honor, the Marquis can no longer meet Agata. Desperate, the Marquis introduces Angelo to a society, thinking he will be dishonest and ostracized.
