About :

I took a photo of Omiya Station on the Shinkansen line during the long holiday. Omiya Station on the Shinkansen line has a 3-platform, 6-track station structure, where the Tohoku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen lines merge. The Shinkansen line between Omiya and Tokyo is double tracked. Despite the double track, Tohoku, Joetsu, Hokuriku, Yamagata, and Akita Shinkansen lines enter the station, so trains are operated at 2-minute intervals. The Shinkansen line between Omiya and Tokyo is usually overcrowded, but during long holidays, additional trains are operated, and it seems that double track operation is approaching its limit. In addition, Tokyo Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen line has a 2-platform, 4-track structure, which means that it is limited in how much trains can be accommodated. For this reason, there are cases where additional Shinkansen trains turn around at Ueno Station. As a radical solution to these problems, there was a plan to have the Joetsu Shinkansen line enter Shinjuku Station, but this was not realized. As a special measure, Tohoku Shinkansen outbound trains departed and arrived from platform 16 at Omiya Station during the long holiday. (There are some exceptions) Platform 18 is used by the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines, so the departure and arrival platforms can be separated. Efforts have been made to ease congestion on the platforms and ensure smooth train operation. However, there have been instances of passengers taking longer to board and disembark due to overcrowding in the unreserved seats, and there have also been instances of train schedule disruptions due to collisions with animals on the Yamagata Shinkansen. The Hokkaido Shinkansen is also scheduled to be extended to Sapporo after 2030. It looks like the Shinkansen section between Omiya and Tokyo will continue to be a challenging section in the future. [Membership] / @shio_vanilla I took a photo of the Shinkansen at Omiya Station during the Golden Week holiday. The Tohoku Shinkansen is a super express train with a maximum speed of 320km/h. Omiya Station is served by the Tohoku Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, Hokuriku Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen, and Akita Shinkansen. Cool super express trains are arriving and departing one after another. Many people take advantage of the Golden Week holiday to go sightseeing or return to their hometowns. During the holiday period, the number of Shinkansen users increases, so many super express trains also operate.
