The Korea Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) is constructing a dense #interception network in the lower airspace. Currently, the US-made '#Patriot (#PAC-3)' missile with a maximum interception altitude of 35㎞ and the domestically-made '#Cheonggung-2 (M-SAM PIP)' missile that can defend up to 40㎞ altitude have been deployed. The upper layer is handled by the #Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system #THAAD with an interception altitude of 40~150㎞. With the addition of the L-SAM for mid-layer defense, it is possible to construct a multi-layered missile defense system as it covers an altitude of 40~60km. The L-SAM plans to separately produce missiles for #ballistic missile interception and #aircraft interception.
