The Württemberg T3 89 363 was manufactured by the Maschinenbau Gesellschaft Heilbronn with the factory number 455 in 1905. It was delivered to the Württemberg State Railway on February 21, 1905. Its operating number was 930. Not much is known about its use during its time with the Imperial Württemberg State Railway, only that it was most likely used from Ulm from 1912 onwards. The Württemberg T3 number 930 came to the German Reichsbahn in 1920 and was included in the new numbering plan in 1925. It was given the number 89 363. From May 16, 1928 to December 31, 1928, the locomotive was based at the Ulm Hbf depot and then moved to the Ulm Rbf depot until August 1, 1929. The locomotive was officially decommissioned by the German Reichsbahn on September 22, 1930 in Tübingen. On August 13, 1931, the locomotive changed hands. The German Reichsbahn sold its steam locomotive to the Aktiengesellschaft Technische Werke der Stadt Stuttgart for just 1,600 Reichsmarks. The Aktiengesellschaft Technische Werke der Stadt Stuttgart, or TWS for short, was the gas supply company for the greater Stuttgart area. The official handover of the 89 363 from the Deutsche Reichsbahn took place on January 22, 1932. From then on, the T3 was responsible as factory locomotive number 2 for the internal shunting service and the transfer trains to the state railway.
