Daegu National Forensic Service, which opened in 2014 and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is one of the five branches of the National Forensic Service under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and was the last to open after Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon. The Daegu National Forensic Service, which operates with a total of four departments: the Department of Forensic Medicine, which mainly conducts autopsies; the Department of Toxicology, which mainly conducts toxicological analysis; the Department of Engineering, which mainly conducts fire and various safety accidents; and the Department of Genetic Analysis, which mainly conducts DNA analysis, provides important evidence required for various scientific investigations in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Before the opening of the Daegu Research Institute, the Busan Research Institute was in charge of the entire Yeongnam region. What does it mean to have the National Forensic Service in our region? What do the National Forensic Service employees do to accurately investigate various cases occurring in our region, and why is that work important to the residents of Daegu and Gyeongbuk?
