"Ljubinko and Desanka" is the first theater text by Aleksandar Popović, and with that play, in 1964, the new building of Atelier 212 in (then) Lola Ribara Street was opened. The premiere of this work caused different comments at the time, from the awareness that a new, significant name appeared in the field of Serbian dramaturgy, to complete denial. Popović's play is a farce based on a simple plot, but it is also a work that already hinted at the writer's specific literary and theatrical language, which would later develop in full swing. It is also the story of people from the margins of Belgrade life who, along with farcical elements, also move in the waters of the comedy of the absurd. That premiere directed by Radet Marković with Oliver Marković, Radet Marković, Pavlo Minčić and Dragutin Dobričanin as protagonists could not be a role model for the new generation, which 32 years later prepared this work as Ninoslav Šćepanović's graduation play (premiere October 8, 1996) with Milica Mihajlović , Sergej Trifunović and Nenad Jezdić for the simple reason that they couldn't even remember that performance. In the 1960s, Atelier 212 discovered a new future great playwright, and a few decades later, young artists played, as it were, already classics. It should be said that this performance from 1996 was the last performance based on his work that Aleksandar Popović saw on stage. The circle closed. The day after the premiere, on October 9, 1996, Popović died. The television recording is from 1998.
