A small cutter with the registration "Lab 4", painted blue below and white above - this is Rainer Lüddeke's second home. From Laboe he regularly goes out on the Baltic Sea in his small boat. Fishing used to be his main job, but for a few years now he has been working as a pilot captain. But going out, setting and hauling in nets, Rainer Lüddeke still needs that. He is a hobby fisherman. His boat, which he uses to go fishing, is moored directly opposite the sea rescue cruiser. Rainer Lüddeke bought the cutter a few years ago, and since then he has renovated and expanded it on his own, investing a lot of time and some money in his passion project. Rainer Lüddeke has been in the port of Laboe since he was a child. "I grew up with the water. My father also went to sea and never did anything else - and as a little boy I was often out on the sea with him." That is why he has such a deep connection to the sea. He enjoys the trips. Water, wind and waves - Rainer Lüddeke needs it like he needs oxygen to breathe. For him, it is the perfect balance to his job and everyday life. "When I'm out at sea, I forget everything, it's like I'm in another world. All the stress is gone, then I come back completely changed."
