In this video, I tell about the lightning attack of soldiers from Helsinki and Uusimaa on the Karelian Isthmus, it happened in August 1941. Colonel Vihma's 12th division was founded in Helsinki and Uusimaa in June 1941. Its men were moved to the border line between Imatra and Nuijamaa in June. On August 21, the IV Army Corps (4th, 8th and 12th divisions) began an attack on Western Kannas, and its troops advanced in ten days to the old border at Rajajoki. During the attacks, one of the largest mottes in Finland was formed in Porlamme and Säiniö. One of the Red Army divisions (43.D and parts 115.D and 123.D) fell or was captured in Mot. Hundreds of cannons, 500 cars, 55 tanks were captured from the Porlammi and Säiniö mottes, 13 of which were destroyed. In addition, thousands of horses, ten thousand artillery grenades and thousands of different infantry weapons were left behind. The battles of Colonel Vihma's division in the summer of 1941 also required Finnish losses, there were more than 3,500 men killed, missing or wounded. More than 7,000 soldiers of the Red Army were found fallen and 9,000 men were captured, about 1,000 of them wounded. Vihma's division was disbanded at the beginning of 1942 and its divisions were distributed to Rajajoki and the Maaselä isthmus. The two pictures at the beginning of the video were taken at Rajajoki on September 1 and 2, 1941. I have added colors to the black and white pictures in the video using image processing programs. #Salamasota #Karjalankannas #Viipuri #Nuijamaa #Imatra #Heinjoki #Muolaa #Kuolemajärvi #Kivennapa #Johannes #Koivisto #Kanneljärvi #Terijoki #Rajajoki #
