A three-part documentary series about roadside monuments can be seen on the YouTube channel of Omroep Gelderland. In it, the poignant stories behind three roadside monuments are told. In the first episode, you will see the story behind the roadside monument of Lieke Steeg from Millingen aan de Rijn. She was only 11 years old when she died in an accident when she came home from school. She was cycling home with friends and she was hit by a car. A roadside monument now stands at the site of the accident on the Thornestraat between Beek and Leuth. In this video, you will see the story behind the monument. Made by: Melvin Houtappels (camera) & Emmie Buermans PODCAST Journalists Lisanne van Sadelhoff and Rosanne Sies come across an N-road that turns out to be notorious: many people have died and been injured here over the years. What is going on with the N303 and the N798 between Ermelo and Putten? In the new podcast series 80 kilometers per hour by Omroep Gelderland, they investigate this. In the verge of the N303 you will find a small monument. It is quite modest and made of wood, barely visible. Lisanne van Sadelhoff and Rosanne Sies discover this roadside monument and ask the question: what is the story behind it? In 80 kilometers per hour they take you along in this story.
