1943. The Red Army drives the Germans out of Kuban. Following the front, the owners of the land move to the liberated villages and farms. Women return to their native ashes in the farm - of the men, only grandfather Fyodor Mulyuk and several boys. The farm is almost completely destroyed, which is what the cunning chairman Kovrigin from the neighboring collective farm wants to take advantage of: he invites them to his place, wanting to involve them in the sowing. But the residents of the farm refuse, realizing that then they will leave their homes forever. On the very first day, fellow villagers unanimously elect Nadezhda Pritulyak, a former partisan, as the chairman of the collective farm - the wife of the old chairman who remained at the front. They decide to call the collective farm "Revival". The women restore houses, collect tools, mow, clean, work. The boy Vasya, a 2nd category tractor driver, "revives" an abandoned German tankette to use it instead of a tractor and plow the fields. Kovrigin calls the chairman of the district executive committee Kostenko to assess the capabilities of the new collective farm, hoping that seeing its unpreparedness for sowing will send the residents to Kovrigin. The farm proudly greets the chairman of the district executive committee, without crying or displaying its troubles, showing by deeds the possibility of restoring the farm, and grandfather Mulyuk even displays a bottle of wine he saved for meeting his son from the war. Seeing the work of the collective farmers, Kostenko decides to help them revive the farm. In the fall, the peasants harvest the first crop on the liberated land, and in the spring they meet the front-line soldiers returning home with Victory.
