At the beginning of the 13th century, the two great states of Central Asia, the Khwarazm Shahs and the Mongols, met near the Irgız River due to a rebellion in the Kara-Khitan State, which they wanted to establish sovereignty over. Sultan Alaaddin and Genghis Khan had narrowly escaped a devastating war as a result of meticulously maintained diplomatic relations. However, despite the peace that was achieved after great efforts a few months later, a trade convoy coming from Mongolia was detained in Otrar, one of the border cities of the Khwarazm country, by Governor İnalcık, on the grounds that they were spies. The revelation of what had happened in Otrar upset the plans of the two states that had just renewed their peace. Thereupon, the Mongol emperor launched a great invasion. Taking over the responsibility of a state that was on the verge of extinction from his father, Celaleddin found himself on the verge of a great existential war against Genghis Khan, the most powerful ruler in the known world. But he would not hesitate to throw himself into this struggle that many people would not dare to take on. We witness the life of Celaleddin Harezmshah, a ruler who devoted his life to saving his country from invasion.
