Nanotechnology plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives, enabling applications such as mobile phones, facial recognition and artificial intelligence. Yet it is relatively invisible which physics and technology play a role in this at the nanoscale. This lecture will present an overview of the history and current developments in nanotechnology, covering both physical limits and challenges in manufacturing technology. Subsequently, we will look ahead to new developments, ultimate limits of nanotechnology, and the possible impact on our future society. TechLec – On the trail of the future Developments in science and technology are happening faster and faster and the consequences for our (daily) lives are becoming increasingly drastic. This lecture series will introduce you to the latest developments from the forefront of science and technology. Once every two months, an expert will take you to the fascinating front line of science. About the speaker Prof. Peter Steeneken Professor of Nanomechanics, Delft University of Technology
