Topic: "The Role of Viruses and Bacteria in Human Life. Besides Diseases" Speaker: Sergey Kharitonov - molecular biologist, research fellow at Lomonosov Moscow State University. The diversity of living beings on Earth is so great that today it is difficult to imagine how, quite recently, biologists distinguished only 4 Kingdoms, including, as they thought, all living things: Animals, Plants, Fungi and Bacteria. Such a division leaves out the already well-known Protozoa, Archaea and, of course, Viruses, which, according to experts, are comparable in diversity to all cellular life. In the lecture, we will talk about prokaryotes and viruses, but we will try to distract ourselves from the usual conversations about infections and antibiotics.
