On August 2, the Center for Oriental Literature hosted another lecture in the series on the graphic arts of the Arab-Muslim world. The meeting was dedicated to the emergence of ornamental motifs in the art of the peoples of the Arab-Islamic cultural aura. During the lecture, listeners learned how and where traditional ornamental and decorative motifs emerged, as well as what girih and islimi are. Sergey noted that some decorative elements are often found not only on the walls of palaces and mosques, but also in everyday life - on clothing, accessories and even on manhole covers. The lecturer was Sergey Sorochev, an Arabic calligrapher, founder of the studio "Kalam.Soul.Studio - Soul of Kalam", illustrator of the publishing house "Medina", calligraphy teacher at the Qatar Center for the Arabic Language.
