Lecture: Howard Carter, the excavator of Tutankhamun by Dr. Gabriele Pieke Egyptologist, Scientific Head of the Archaeological Collections and Ancient Egypt at the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums The British archaeologist Howard Carter is best known for the sensational discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Together with his team, he needed 10 years to carefully document the more than 5000 objects in the tomb and to remove them piece by piece. Carter's path to becoming the world-famous excavator of a once-in-a-century find was not easy, however, as he had to work his way up from being a simple archaeological draftsman. This impressive career is linked to the sensational discovery of Tutankhamun, but also to many other exciting discoveries. With this event, we are supporting the Sterntaler children's hospice. All entrance fees between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. will go to the children's hospice. The lecture is free of charge. We would be happy to receive a donation.
