The LNK IC is without a doubt today the most requested technology when it comes to voltage production for low and medium intensity switching sources. In this series of six videos you will learn how to analyze switching source circuits with LNK IC configured in Buck topology. The LNK is a self-oscillating IC, responsible for generating and stabilizing voltage to power low and medium loads. Its great advantage is that it does not require external stimulus to start operating, simply being powered by the Drain pin. Another advantage is that it can generate voltage with the help of a chopper transformer (flyback topology) or without the chopper transformer (buck topology). The LNK IC is found in a wide area of Electronics, producing main or auxiliary power supply voltage for various types of electronic equipment, such as: Portable power supplies (cell phone and notebook), standby circuit (digital TV, ATX power supply), white goods (microwave oven, washing machine/dishwasher, refrigerators), etc. As you can see from the usage examples mentioned above, it is essential that you have both theoretical and practical knowledge of the LNK IC to facilitate the search for accurate diagnoses when repairing. In this series of 6 videos you will learn how to theoretically analyze the electrical diagram of a switched power supply with LNK IC in buck topology, as well as how to test the IC both statically (off the board) with an analog multimeter and also dynamically (measuring its terminals with a multimeter to confirm the operating voltages). The videos that contain practical classes with the LNK IC are based on a refrigerator board that has a short circuit, which is why we will use the four-step rule to obtain the diagnosis. We will use the lamp in series to show the defect presented by the board, we will perform a static analysis of the board, we will isolate the stage that is defective and we will remove all the components that are part of the circuit that is causing the board to be inoperative. Finally, we will replace the defective components and connect the board via the lamp in series again to confirm that the defect has been fixed.
