EOI 04/09/2014 http://a.eoi.es/5z4u Conference given within the framework of the days on Leadership and coaching for SMEs and self-employed workers, held at the Centre of Excellence in Benissa. It is not necessary to investigate much to realise that the small business owner is generally caught up in the day-to-day, putting out fires, trying to survive, instead of calmly facing the decision-making that affects the sustainability of his business. On few occasions can the owner of an SME stop to think about how to redefine his strategy, how to increase his sales, how to open new markets or how to take advantage of new technologies in his business. Coaching can help the business owner to determine his business objectives and, above all, to implement action plans to achieve them. It is also effective in improving the skills and performance of the business owner and entrepreneur, as well as improving the work environment. It has been shown that organisations that exercise leadership through coaching have a lower rate of staff turnover. Reyes Herce Tomás is an Executive Coach and trainer in Leadership/Communication.
