FTTR: Fiber-to-the-Room: Up until now, laying fiber optics in every room was a fiddly job. Often, you had to break and splice the fibers with special tools. Now there is a self-adhesive, highly flexible, transparent fiber optic cable: you press it almost invisibly into cracks and joints with a 170-degree hot laying gun. You can then paint over it with wall paint. At the end of the fibers there is a WiFi 6 access point with its own fiber optic port: in every room, if desired, or at least on every floor of a single-family home. The in-house GPON fiber optic system transports any Internet connection, whether DSL, cable or fiber, loss-free (!) at full speed from the basement to the roof through glass. Can't you buy it anywhere in Germany yet? That's right! But Lu Tao, ISP Director at Huawei Germany, has already installed such an in-house GPON system himself in his single-family home in Munich. I was allowed to visit him and his family in his single-family home and film the entire cable route from the basement to the attic.
