The Supreme Court of Lithuania (LAT) decided on Thursday (October 24) to correct the incriminating decision of the Court of Appeal in the "MG Baltic" political corruption case, but it was decided that the former leader of the Liberal Movement Eligijus Masiulis, the former vice-president of the "MG Baltic" concern Raimondas Kurlianskis, the MP Vytautas Gapšys remains convicted of corruption crimes. The Court of Cassation, which examined the case, reduced the sentences imposed on R. Kurlianskis and V. Gapšius. LAT published the cassation appeals of E. Masiulis, his lawyer Ruslans Boiks, former representative of the Liberal movement Gintaras Steponavičius, his defender Rimgaudas Černiaus, lawyer of the Labor Party Vytautas Sviderskis, requesting the acquittal of the persons. The LAT took into account the arguments of the cassation appeals of some of the other convicts and reclassified the criminal acts committed by them, adjusted the punishments.
