We are back with a new season of 'Held in Eigen Verhaal'. I kick off the very first episode with Lale Gül who made her debut as a writer last year with her book 'Ik ga leven', about her youth in a conservative Islamic environment in Amsterdam-West. The book was a huge success but at a high price. Contact with her family was lost, a large part of the community turned against her and many death threats followed. She stopped writing for a while but is now working on a second book. I think it takes a lot of courage to be critical and that is why I find it very interesting to talk to her! Everyone has their own story and there are still so many stories that need to be told. The series 'Held in Eigen Verhaal' focuses on various inspiring guests with a special story.
