A lake of glacial origin crossed by the Vologne, at an altitude of 736 m, it stretches over 76 ha in the direction of the valley. Its maximum dimensions are 1950 m long by 550 m wide and 34 m deep. In the immediate vicinity of the lake are a few peaks dominating it: Le Haut de Saint-Jacques (1,138 m), Fachepremont (1,086 m) to the south and Boulard (1,075 m) to the north. Lake Longemer is a moraine dam lake, therefore formed by both fine and coarse rock masses of glacial origin.
