An armed group of forest guards hid in the Kakkur dugout in Kullaa for almost the entire war. Mostly communists, reds and other men avoiding the war on the front. The hiding place ended in a shootout when the hiding place was revealed to the military police. The men scattered and fled the dugout to hide in houses in nearby villages that were known to be safe.
