Krisztián Ungváry's lecture series: One history – many explanations. Interpretations of Hungarian history Lecture 4: Trianon and its revision The Trianon Peace Treaty still divides public opinion, while the reasons for the peace treaty and the possibilities for its modification are not sufficiently known even today. Date: February 28, 2023, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM Location: 1051. Bp., Nádor utca 15., Auditorium B Recommended reading: Balázs Ablonczy: Trianon-problemák. Kommentár, 2007. 4. no. 57–67. p. http://www.kommentar.info.hu/uploads/... *** At the request and organization of the Blinken OSA Archivum, historian Krisztián Ungváry will give twelve lectures on controversial issues of 19th–20th century Hungarian history for those interested in history based on documentable facts. The lecture series outlines different interpretive frameworks and patterns for the controversial turning points in Hungary's recent history. The topics of the lectures cover those historical questions and problems that are still hotly debated today, which are most vulnerable to historical falsification, manipulation, intentional or ignorant misinterpretations in historical discourses aimed at the wider public, in debates, state propaganda and social media. The aim of the lectures is not only to present historical reality, but also to explore the internal logic of discourses that distort and falsify reality.
