Journalist, war correspondent, public figure Kosti Heiskanen was born in Russia to a family of "Red Finns" who emigrated to the USSR before the Great Patriotic War. At a young age, he returned to his historical homeland, and came to Russia only to visit. At the end of 2021, Kosti received a tempting offer to take part in the project "From Russia with Love". He arrived in Moscow on January 5, 2022, but soon the Special Military Operation began and he chose the side he would be on without hesitation. He became a volunteer and war correspondent, regularly traveling to the SVO zone. After his first trip to Donbass, Kosti Heiskanen returned to Finland and took part in an event attended by Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin. "I approached her and asked: "If we have democracy in Finland, why don't you go to Donbass, to the Luhansk People's Republic, to the same Mariupol, since you shout that the Russians are killing everyone there, raping and stealing washing machines?" But instead of answering, she sent security on me. And for me it was like a slap in the face - I became an ardent anti-fascist, because I realized that Finland had turned into the Baltics. That is, this cult of fascism, the cult of this banned "Azov", "Aidar", all these units was already flourishing there. I realized that they did not want to know any truth at all," Kosti Heiskanen said in an interview with journalist Alexey Stefanov.
