Presentation video of the KOROSTI DANTZA TALDEA The Korosti Dantza Taldea was founded in 1982 in Legazpi. Its aim is to spread Basque dances. In 1990, the adult dance group was created, with children continuing to dance. Since 1995, Korosti has begun the international projection of Basque dances. Currently, the group consists of 100 dancers, but the management team is made up of more members, including musicians. The group is divided into 4 groups, which are based on age. Korosti combines tradition and innovation in its dance performances. The video shows parts of different dances: 1- The GODALET part of the Zuberoa masked dance is presented. The dance is not from the north, the part where the bagpipe of the forest is climbed is shown, as mentioned without respecting the costume. 2- INTRODUCTION: It is a very popular honor dance in the Basque Country. 3- ZUBEROAKA MAKIL DANTZA: As the name suggests, it is from Zuberoa and only the moment of jumping on the sticks is shown. Here too, the dress code is not respected. 4- KAXARRANKA: Originally from Lekeitio. This dance is danced on the day of San Pedro (patron saint of the fishermen's guild). The servant of the fishermen's guild dances on a box that other fishermen carry around their necks. He wears a white shirt and pants, a red sash, a red collar and carries a black txistera and a flag embroidered with the keys of San Pedro. The dance has four parts: Greeting to the people, fandangoa, arin-arina and aznik agurra. 5- IRULEAK: It is a tailor's dance. It is danced by women. 6- MAI-TAAINEKO: The dancers climb onto the maina one by one to take a sip of wine. The dancer dances with the next/previous dancer to take turns. Traditionally, it is danced on San Pedro's Day. Other dancers are singing around it. 7- ZINTA-DANTZA: Although in the past it was danced by men, today it is a women's dance. They hold onto ribbons hanging from a stick and braid them through the dance, then release them. In Legazpi, a dove is placed in a cage at the end of the stick, which is released after the dance is over. This is a tradition of the Korosti dance group, but today it is not usually done. 8- BOYS' ARKU DANTZA: The boys' arku-dantza has nothing to do with the girls'. The boys dance with bows. 9- SAN SEBASTIAN MARTZA: It is the well-known San Sebastian march to the drums. 10- TXANKARRANKOA: The boys' Bizkaian dance is well-known. 11- PLAZARA: It is a very popular dance. Boys and girls usually dance together. The music is the school anthem. 12- OTSAGIKO DANTZA: Originates from the town of Otsagabia in Navarre and has the following parts: Paseoa, Emperadorea, Katxutxa-dantza, Modorro, Painolo-dantza and Jota. 13- FANDANGOA OF GIRLS: Fandango and arin-arini are well-known jota from the Basque Country. They are danced in different ways; in a corro, in pairs... What you see in the video is a choreography of the fandango performed by girls. 14- SAGAR JOLASA: It is not a traditional Sagar-dantza. This is a choreography danced by girls around an apple. 15- EZPATA-DANTZA OF LEGAZPI: Throughout the Basque Country, there are different ezpata-dantzas, such as the ezpata-dantza of Amaia, etc. The video shows the traditional Ezpata-dantza of Legazpi.
