Yeongsan River, the center of Honam civilization, and Naju, located at its center. There is a lost ancient kingdom located there. We set out to find the secret traces of 'Mahan' in Korean history. Naju played an important role in politics and administration as 'Najumok', one of the 12 moks during the Goryeo Dynasty, and during the Joseon Dynasty, it was also called 'So-gyeong', meaning small Hanyang. Numerous tombs were formed around Yeongsan River in the Naju region. The gilt-bronze crown excavated from the Bannam Tomb and the gilt-bronze shoes excavated from the Jeongchon Tomb prove that a powerful and independent power was formed here. In particular, the giant jar that is 3m tall is a size that cannot be found in other regions, suggesting that this region was not part of Baekje's territory in the past, but another country existed. That country is Mahan, which rarely appears in records. Mahan, which is only partially recorded in literature, was a political confederation of several countries located in the south. It was generally believed that King Geunchogo conquered this region in the 4th century, but with the excavation of ancient tombs and relics, it has been revealed that the Mahan confederacy's power lasted until the early 6th century. Recently, through the restoration of relics excavated from ancient tombs and the analysis of DNA from ancient human bones found in jars, the mysterious history, culture, and even lifestyle of Mahan have been closely revealed. Through research on Mahan, which has been shrouded in mystery, we will look into the hidden secrets of ancient history. - Science lovers, stick around here~!
