A member of Racionais MC's and one of the most influential DJs in the Brazilian hip-hop scene, KL Jay hosted Folha's reporters for an afternoon at his apartment in the Copan building, in downtown São Paulo. That week, hip-hop celebrated its 50th anniversary, on a symbolic date that recalls one of the first parties of the genre, organized by Jamaican DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy Campbell, in a building in the Bronx neighborhood of New York, on August 11, 1973.
