The Germans are kitchen kings: No other country in Europe has so many manufacturers of kitchens, kitchenettes or cooking islands. With almost 11.5 billion euros, the industry celebrated a record sales figure in 2021. But which kitchen is the right one for whom, and does it always have to be an expensive model? Focus TV accompanied two families who want to realize their kitchen dream with very different budgets: The Nabel family from Berlin is moving into a new home and is relying entirely on the professional advice of a furniture store. They are spoiled for choice. Will they be able to manage with the estimated 20,000 euros? In contrast, the Klawa family from Windeck in Siegerland is relying entirely on self-construction and wants to put together the furnishings from used parts for a maximum of 800 euros. But there are many hurdles on the way to the dream kitchen: The exhaust pipe and the connection for high voltage are really dangerous for the family father.
