It's about time: we're taking stock. What were the best, the biggest, the most beautiful, the coolest films of 2024? To answer that, we've once again brought together the crème de la crème of KINO+ to determine the best of the year from 10 films each. And as always, we're taking the time to make this process as broad, detailed and exuberant as possible. That's why today we're giving places 10 to 6 from Antje, Thilo, Etienne, Andi and Schröck, who first briefly talk about a few real disappointments of the year, the year itself and the good old VHS days to get into the groove. From then on, things get exciting - and appreciated once again. For example, the pressure in YES, CHEF!, the fun of DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, the women in LOVE LIES BLEEDING, RED ROOMS or MAY DECEMBER, the thrill of SPIDERS aka VERMINES, the eerie atmosphere of LONGLEGS or LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL and the crackling atmosphere of CHALLENGERS or WHERE THE LIES FALL. Or the feelings, contradictions and enthusiasm that films like JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX, the small-town thriller REBEL RIDGE, the RASHOMON homage called THE INNOCENCE, the relationship drama ALL OF US STRANGERS or the supposed children's action adventure TRANSFORMERS ONE triggered in the five. And of course, before, in between and after, as always, there are a lot of other titles, memories and comparisons, without which such a round and discussion would not really be complete or right. With that in mind, we wish you once again a happy, cuddly and, above all, relaxed Christmas season, lots of fun at this two-hour final show (part 1) and many more wonderful hours with the films discussed here.
