◼︎ On November 4, 1374, King Gongmin was assassinated. The royal tomb of King Gongmin, located on the slope of Bongmyeongsan Mountain in Gaeseong, is a double tomb consisting of King Gongmin's Hyeonreung and his wife, Princess Noguk's Jeongreung. It was designed by King Gongmin himself, and it contains his longing for Princess Noguk, who had died earlier. Princess Noguk was a princess of the Yuan Dynasty, but she actively supported King Gongmin's reformist politics to break away from the Yuan Dynasty. When Princess Noguk died, King Gongmin was deeply heartbroken and distanced himself from state affairs, devoting himself to the construction of the tombs of Princess Noguk and himself. There is a door between the two tombs inside King Gongmin's tomb, and through this door, we can guess King Gongmin's desire to meet Princess Noguk even in the afterlife. #KoreanHistory #History #HistorySpecial #HistoryJournal Copyright ⓒ KBS.
