Although it is not the largest city in Poland, its charm and diversity mean that everyone will find something for themselves here. Visiting Kielce is not only an opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the region, but also to actively spend time outdoors surrounded by beautiful nature. One of the most recognizable places in Kielce is the Palace of the Krakow Bishops, located in the very center of the city. This impressive 17th-century building is an example of Baroque architecture that delights both from the outside and inside. The palace currently houses the National Museum, where you can admire numerous exhibitions related to the history of the region, sacred art and collections of paintings. The Italian garden behind the palace is an ideal place for a quiet walk surrounded by beautiful plants and carefully maintained alleys. Another attraction worth visiting in Kielce is the Museum of Toys and Play. This is a place that will appeal to both children and adults, who can return to their childhood here. The museum has a rich collection of toys from different eras, including dolls, toy cars, blocks and many others. We cannot forget about the Castle Hill, which used to serve as a defense, and today is a place for walks and relaxation. The castle that once stood on the hill, unfortunately did not survive to this day, but in its place there is the Botanical Garden and the Kadzielnia Amphitheater, which is a popular venue for concerts and festivals. Kielce is also a city full of greenery, and one of the most beautiful places to admire it is the Kadzielnia Nature Reserve. This is a unique rock reserve on a national scale, which delights both geologists and ordinary tourists. The reserve contains numerous caves, some of which are open to visitors. In the summer, concerts and other outdoor cultural events are held here, which attract lovers of music and art. A crazy zip-line runs over the Emerald Lake. Other Kielce reserves include Ślichowice and Wietrznia, which allow you to delve deeper into geology and spend time outdoors. For those who like to spend their time actively, Kielce offers numerous bike paths and hiking trails. The Świętokrzyski National Park is one of the most important points on the tourist map of the region, and at the same time an ideal place for hiking. The most famous peak in the park is Łysica, the highest point of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, from which there is a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. It is also worth visiting Łysa Góra, where one of the oldest sanctuaries in Poland is located - the Monastery of the Holy Cross, hiding the relics of the Holy Cross Tree. A little outside the borders of Kielce, in Chęciny, is the majestic Royal Castle. This medieval stronghold towers over the area and offers extraordinary views of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains and the Nida Valley. The castle is a well-preserved example of defensive architecture and one of the most important tourist attractions in the region. Tourists can explore the castle walls, climb the towers, which offer panoramic views, and participate in numerous cultural and historical events organized on the premises. For lovers of folk culture and the history of the region, the Kielce Village Museum is a great place to visit. The open-air museum in Tokarnia, which is part of this museum, is a place where you can see what life was like in the countryside in the Świętokrzyskie region over the centuries. The open-air museum contains historic cottages, manors, mills and other farm buildings that faithfully reflect the atmosphere of the old village.
