The donation of a kidney by a living person is a special case in the field of organ transplantation, as not only the recipient but also the donor receives medical care. However, the focus is usually on the recipient's side, as it is often about saving a life. But today we want to look at the side of the donor, who is confronted with completely new topics and tasks through their generous gesture. We want to discuss twelve of these topics in a question-and-answer conversation in our video cast: 01 - Who is allowed to offer a living kidney donation under current law? 02 - Can my donation avoid dialysis for the recipient? 03 - What are the physical requirements for a living kidney donation? 04 - How is the mental state of the donor cared for? 05 - Can a specific person be noted on an organ donor card? 06 - How is the donor doing after the organ donation? 07 - What is the recovery phase like after the operation? 08 - Does the donation cause a donor social or economic damage? 09 - Does the donation change the donor's fertility or sexual behavior? 10 - Does a living kidney donation require a significant change in lifestyle? 11 - Does the living kidney donation affect the donor's cardiovascular system (m,f,d)? 12 - Does the living kidney donation shorten the donor's life expectancy (m,f,d)?
