[#KHIPUS] The structures and techniques of Andean textiles, both in archaeological and historical pieces as well as in contemporary ones, are among the most complex in the world. Although the tapestry or weft-faced fabric is perhaps the best known of all the types of fabric in the region, it is undoubtedly in warp-faced fabrics where these structures and techniques have reached their maximum development, especially in our times. Several studies have attempted to describe Andean warp-faced textiles, however, they have done so using a universal classification terminology developed from the analysis of textiles from other parts of the world. Faced with this situation, Elvira Espejo, a visual artist, weaver and narrator of the oral tradition of the Qaqachaka ayllu, from Oruro, Bolivia, has been carrying out research focused on the rescue of the terminology and classification systems used by the weavers of the Andean region. On this occasion, she will share her reflections and experiences, reaffirming the documentary value that has been captured in the Andean warps and wefts. Special guest: Elvira Espejo Ayca, Bolivian visual artist, weaver and narrator. Director of the National Museum of Ethnography and Folklore. Presentation by: Juan Carlos Verme, president of MALI #PublicPrograms #MasterTalk
