The Battle of Katum was a battle between the regular North Vietnamese communist army and the Katum Special Forces camp, which took place from August 18, 1968 to September 25, 1968. Before going into the Katum war, let's learn about the Katum Special Forces camp. The Katum Special Forces camp is one of the special forces camps located close to the Vietnam-Cambodia border, in the 3rd tactical zone. The Katum camp was directly commanded by the A375 Special Forces team of the Republic of Vietnam, along with advisors from the A322 team of the 5th Special Forces Group of the United States. The A Team of the Republic of Vietnam Special Forces had 14 officers and non-commissioned officers, selected from military schools or combat units, and were specially trained in skills such as parachuting, reconnaissance, communications, first aid, sabotage, infiltration, etc. The A Team of the United States Special Forces had the same number of troops but only did advisory work.
