Rahner Lecture 2024 on the occasion of the 120th birthday and the 40th anniversary of the death of Karl Rahner SJ Questions of grace theology are currently no longer necessarily the focus of dogmatic interest - quite unlike in the (pre-)conciliar period, in which more than one grace theological debate was almost a "weather corner" of contemporary theology. Karl Rahner took a pointed position in these debates; the reflection of God's act of grace was not only highly topical in his field of thought, but also leads deep into the specifics of Rahner's own theology and has been the focus of his attention since the early lecture "De gratia Christi". It is precisely on the basis of this topic that it is easy to understand how Rahner, on the one hand, draws on scholastic heritage, but on the other hand opens it up and develops it further from within in the interest of the current expressibility of central beliefs. And in more than one respect, Rahner's reflections on grace theology are also highly topical and offer valuable potential for reception in the 21st century. The event was organized in cooperation with the Karl Rahner Foundation and the Karl Rahner Archive. #philosophy #theology #rahner #catholic
