Defying the polls, Donald Trump not only won the US presidential election by a wide margin, winning the popular vote he did not have on his side in 2016, but also the Senate and most certainly the House of Representatives. The new president is almost assuming full powers… But why did Kamala Harris lose so widely? Joe Biden bears a large part of the responsibility, having taken too long to withdraw from the race, which prevented Harris from being fully recognized. Although racism and misogyny against her played a role, her campaign, less impactful than Donald Trump's, failed to mobilize. In addition, the Biden administration's positions on arms sales to Israel and inaction in the war in Gaza demobilized part of the Democratic electorate, particularly young people.
