Waroros Market or Kad Luang of Chiang Mai, in the past this area was a crematorium used for the funeral of the ruler of Chiang Mai. However, after the funeral of King Inthawichayanon, the 7th ruler of Chiang Mai in 1901, Chao Kaew Nawarat, his son, built Mae Kha Market on the area. Later, Chao Inthawarat asked to buy the market and changed the name to “Waroros Market”. However, after the death of King Inthawarat, due to financial problems of the market, in 1913, Princess Dara Rasmi had to buy and manage the market herself. She also developed and improved the market by building a building for selling goods until 1933 when Princess Dara Rasmi passed away. Waroros Market had to change owners again, with Chao Kaew Nawarat, who was the 9th ruler at that time, and his relatives jointly taking care of the market. Waroros Market is considered a large and important market for people in Chiang Mai and its suburbs. However, in 1968, the market fire incident was a major turning point. On the one hand, it caused the lives of the market people to collapse, causing the relocation and the place of business for the vendors. On the other hand, it also brought about a historical change when the Nimmanhaemin-Chutima family took over and developed and improved the market to be more modern. From the beginning to the present, although the role and status of Waroros Market have changed with the times, one thing that remains is that it is a market that is a pair of Chiang Mai.
