The hearing held by the Supreme Court of Justice to resolve the request for 18 months of preventive detention against suspended prosecutor Elizabeth Peralta Santur marked a crucial point in the Andrés Hurtado case. Judge Gustavo Álvarez Trujillo must determine whether there is a risk of obstruction by the person under investigation, accused of influence peddling and specific active bribery. According to prosecutor Alejandra Cárdenas, Peralta would have hidden key elements for the investigation, such as cell phones that would be her property and that were identified as fundamental evidence. The Prosecutor's Office also presented as evidence a manuscript found in Peralta's home, where it was allegedly indicated to delete messages and WhatsApp settings, which would reinforce the thesis of a possible interference in the investigations. DEFENSE REJECTS ACCUSATIONS For its part, Peralta's defense, headed by attorney Benji Espinoza, rejected the accusations and maintained that the failure to deliver the cell phones does not constitute an act of obstruction.
