About :

Four centuries after his birth, the International Congress 'The Present Day of Father Juan de Mariana' was held in his hometown, Talavera de la Reina. Twenty-one works by philosophers, historians and economists, from multiple institutions and countries, who praise and criticise Mariana; who follow him with careful method or, like modern cooks, deconstruct him; who analyse him in his time and use him as a pretext to develop their concerns; who compare him with his contemporaries and trace his presence in much later authors; who describe his time in a cursory manner or seek to trace the depth of his intimacy or the paradoxes of his circumstances. On this occasion, the result of these discussions will be presented. Ignacio Monar García is a Philosophy professor at the IES Padre Juan de Mariana, a tutor professor at the UNED, and a Talavera native like the famous Jesuit. He collaborated in the organization of the International Congress on this thinker held in 2017. Julián Rodríguez Ortega has a degree in Philosophy from the UCM and a diploma in Advanced Studies in Philosophy from the same university. He has been a Philosophy teacher in secondary education for more than fifteen years. He is a Philosophy teacher at the Institute of Religious Sciences of the diocese of Toledo. He has been a History of Religions teacher at the UCLM. José Luis Pozo Fajarnés is a Philosophy teacher at the Padre Juan de Mariana Institute in Talavera de la Reina; a Philosophy and Anthropology tutor teacher at the UNED Associated Center in Talavera de la Reina; and an associate researcher at the Gustavo Bueno Foundation. He publishes philosophy articles in the interactive magazine El Catoblepas and also in the Philosophy Magazine El Basilisco. .........
