As he does so, he taps the driver lightly on the shoulder. What happens next can only be described as chaotic: The driver screams loudly, jerks the steering wheel, the taxi swerves dangerously into the oncoming lane, narrowly brushes against an oncoming bus, drives over the curb and finally comes to an abrupt stop - just inches from a large pane of glass. There is absolute silence in the car. The passenger is petrified with shock and stares at the driver, who has also turned pale and is still gripping the steering wheel, shaking. After taking a few deep breaths, the driver slowly turns around and says: "I'm sorry, but you scared the crap out of me." The passenger, still perplexed, stammers: "I just wanted to ask a question... and I just patted you on the shoulder!" The driver sighs deeply and runs his hand through his hair. "I understand that," he finally says, "but you have to know... today is my first day as a taxi driver.
