Seminar of the Science, Reason and Faith Group. Jesus Christ and cosmic evolution Emili Marlés. Pamplona, May 17, 2016. Emili Marlés Romeu is currently the director of the “Science and Faith in Dialogue” project. He is a priest of the diocese of Terrassa. He has a degree in Physics from the University of Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome), with a thesis on the theology-science dialogue. He is a professor of Christology at the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia, where he has taught various undergraduate courses on theology-science dialogue. Among other writings, he has published: “Creative Trinity and Cosmology. The theology-science dialogue and the mystery of creation in the writings of IG Barbour and D. Edwards” (Publications of the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia, 2010). He recently edited the book “Trinitat, Univers, persona. Ciencia i teologia en diàleg” (Publications of the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia, 2013). Speaker's summary: What is the relationship between Jesus Christ and cosmic evolution? How can we reconcile creation and evolution? Can we make a theological interpretation of evolution that is faithful to science and theology? In this seminar we will study a specific case in which we will see that when a correct dialogue between science and faith is established, theology can grow in its understanding of the mystery of creation.
