I took a stroll around Shirakawa-go in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. It was a little early for the autumn leaves, but since the anime remake is also happening, I thought it was perfect timing. [Shirakawa-go] The Ogimachi district of Shirakawa-go is known for its gassho-style villages. A unique landscape, the villages were highly evaluated and selected as important preservation districts of historic buildings in 1976. In 1995, along with Gokayama (Ainokura district, Suganuma district), it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (cultural heritage).
