To get back on track, we're not doing anything original because in this new video, we're going to talk about an ultra-popular and highly-commented science fiction franchise: the Alien saga, and more specifically the second part: James Cameron's Aliens. When it was released in theaters, Aliens was a success roughly comparable to that of its predecessor, Alien, the eighth passenger directed by Ridley Scott. But little by little, James Cameron's film would create a schism among science fiction fans. Indeed, many blame the director of Terminator for having betrayed the atmosphere of Ridley Scott's film to make the Alien saga a vulgar action film franchise that crackles and fills movie theaters. From then on, one can wonder if Aliens was just a simple commission for James Cameron or was it a film that bears his mark and his recurring themes? Could Aliens be a good sequel to Ridley Scott's masterpiece while being a radically different film? How does this second installment fit into a franchise of four films (Alien the Eighth Passenger by Ridley Scott, Aliens by James Cameron, Alien 3 by David Fincher and Alien Resurrection by Jean-Pierre Jeunet), two spin-offs (Alien vs. Predator and its sequel) and two prequels (Prometheus and Alien Covenant by Ridley Scott) and what was its legacy? And deep down, aren't cats much more dangerous than xenomorphs?
