THIS TIME, IT'S THE BIG DEPARTURE! Jade casts off from Papeete for her first major multi-day sailing trip upwind, heading for the Gambier archipelago. This is the last possible stopover in French Polynesia before setting off for Chile... The weather window that is available to us is not perfect, but it's the first one that has presented itself in weeks, and perhaps the only one for a while... so we're taking it. The boat is ready, we've had all the time we need in Tahiti to do a substantial supply run (we're counting on three to four months of autonomy) and do the necessary technical checks. A final goodbye to our friends, and we're off for 973 miles! (800 miles in a straight line, but I don't know why sailboats don't like straight lines... especially upwind🤔). As usual, all of Jade's adventures are on our blog: www.labaladedejade.com. See you soon for the rest!
