Jerzy Diatłowicki was born in January 1941 in Kazakhstan, in the city of Kustamej. At the outbreak of World War II, Jerzy Diatłowicki's parents lived in Warsaw, from where they moved to Lutsk, where his mother's parents lived. In April 1940, the entire family was deported to the Soviet Union - the basis for the deportation was the accusation of sabotage of the Red Army entering Lutsk. The family ended up in Kazakhstan, and initially worked in a sovkhoz. After Jerzy was born, the parents and grandparents moved to the nearby city of Kustamej, where Jerzy Diatłowicki's grandfather took up work producing official signs and took over the monopoly on glassworks. In 1946, the interviewee's family returned to Poland, initially settling in Szczecin, then moving to Warsaw. Jerzy Diatłowicki began studies at the Medical Academy, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Warsaw. He is accused of an "irresponsible attitude towards the Military School", as a result he fails the subject and is expelled from the university. He is called up for military service. He returns to his studies. Jerzy Diatłowicki is involved in publicistic and journalistic activities, he has made numerous trips to Israel, among others as a culinary correspondent.
