How is renewable natural gas (also called biogas or biomethane) produced from livestock and agricultural effluents? In Savigny-sur-Braye (Loir-et-Cher), the Méthabraye methanizer collects waste from 17 surrounding farms to produce 12 GWh of biogas each year. Mainly powered by slurry, the plant has several advantages for farmers and the environment, beyond the production of low-carbon energy.
