Morning press conference, from the National Palace. Monday, November 25, 2024 President Claudia Sheinbaum. 00:00 Broadcast begins 11:25 Press conference begins 13:08 Results of the call in the Judiciary 20:45 It is time for women without violence 38:36 Question and answer session 1:45:05 Healthy Life On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we present the awareness campaign: “It is time for women without violence.” There are behaviors that seem normal, such as telling a woman: “You look prettier when you keep quiet,” but in reality it is a violent action. Telling a girl: “You can't be an engineer” seems like a custom; it is not. It is a form of violence to not allow her to fulfill her dreams. The constitutional reform to article 4 guarantees substantive equality between women and men. The secondary laws are now for approval by the Senate of the Republic; Among other issues, they establish that the entities of the Republic must have specialized prosecutors and lawyers to deal with violence against women, especially femicide. The purpose of these laws is to ensure equality, as well as protect and strengthen women's rights. At the same time, we work on the two main axes to eradicate violence: prevention and zero impunity. In the face of any femicide: zero impunity. In the face of sexual violence against women and girls: zero impunity. Together we must transform the reality of women and girls in the country; we must identify prejudices that threaten equality. The call from the Executive Branch was a complete success: More than 18 thousand lawyers registered to participate in the election of members of the Judicial Branch, to be held on June 1. It is an unprecedented event; we are moving forward for democracy in the Judicial Branch. There is important space to reduce tax evasion, corruption and facilitate the payment of taxes. This is the first step before thinking about a tax reform. As part of the National Security Strategy, we work with state authorities on local and regional strategies. Such is the case of Tabasco; the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, remains in contact with Governor Javier May Rodríguez and state authorities, who have our full support. The arrests of local authorities in the State of Mexico are the result of the strategy that includes attention to the causes, intelligence and investigation and zero impunity. In this case, the previous intelligence and investigation actions provided evidence to prosecute and obtain arrest warrants, based on the investigation file prepared by the state prosecutor's office. We reaffirm our congratulations to the people of Uruguay and to the Frente Amplio for the victory of Yamandú Orsi and Carolina Cosse as president and vice president; a progressive and socially just option returns to Latin America.
