The hero of our today's issue, like the doctors of the "European Radiological Center", dedicated his life to radiology. At that time, doctors did not yet fully understand the danger of the influence of X-rays on the human body. They carried out all the studies on themselves and their family members without any protection. He was the first in world practice to use X-rays to study the signs of appendicitis and its complications, described the vermiform appendix in normal conditions and during inflammation, and designed a special table for examining the kidneys and urinary tract. He also introduced multi-axis research into practice, which is now widely used in computer and magnetic resonance imaging for constructing multiplanar reconstructions. This radiologist bequeathed his body to science "as a rare unique specimen for studying changes after prolonged exposure to X-rays." He lived, studied and worked in Kharkov, but his name is immortalized on a memorial plaque in Hamburg among the names of other great radiologists.
